On 14 June 2025, the Hugo Junkers park in Rheydt will be transformed into the city’s largest sports arena. Delve into the variety of sports on offer, get to know clubs and try out new sports. This weekend, we celebrate local and international sport by breaking some records. A festival for the whole family, sports enthusiasts and for all those who are curious. We would like to thank our mayor Felix Heinrichs for his patronage.

REGISTER FOR THE RUN

Running brings people together! In line with the city’s motto ‚Together with diversity‘, we are calling on all Mönchengladbach residents to put on their running shoes and head for the starting line. Whether at a walking pace or with a new distance record, you will run together with others across the old city border, connecting the districts of Mönchengladbach and Rheydt with a 5 km route. The route takes you past the Hugo-Junkers Grammar School and the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences along the beautiful Brucknerallee and Richard-Wagner-Straße to St. Josef’s Church. Once through the second lap, you will be welcomed at the finish line by cheering crowd at the market square of Rheydt.

Keep fit in your district – that’s the motto of the free Sore MuscleTour in Rheydt. There are stations along the route where you have to do extra exercises. With push-ups, lunges and squats, you’ll really work up a sweat!

The meeting point for the Sore Muscle Tour is the fountain at Rheydt Town Hall.

Bambini Run
Whether you’re a toddler or a pre-schooler, the Bambini Run (age groups 2017 and younger) isn’t about record times. With mum, dad, grandma and grandpa standing by the roadside cheering on the youngest runners, it’s all about having fun and, of course, a little reward for all the young athletes when they cross the finish line. And best of all – it’s free!

Youth Run
All those energetic kids and teenagers, the Youth Run is your chance to give it your all on the 2.2 km course and beat the competition. The top three finishers in each of the four age groups (U8, U10, U12 and U14) will be awarded prizes, but the others won’t go home empty-handed either!

12.15 p.m. to 1.30 p.m.
Move and Groove RUN
Whether you are an amateur runner, a casual walker or an elite athlete, we want you to take part in the big 5 km run as part of the Move and Groove international sports festival. And although there will be a prize-giving ceremony for the fastest runners at the end of the race, the main focus is on having fun, in line with the motto

SCAVENGER HUNT
MEETS MOVE AND GROOVE

Don’t miss it! The craziest scavenger hunt in Mönchengladbach is back for the 3rd time and will bring a lot of fun to the Move and Groove. You can play with your team, do crazy things, discover new things and face special challenges. As well as the ultimate fun factor, there are also great prizes to be won. The first warm-up tasks will be activated when registration opens on 6 June 2024. The Scavenger Hunt Mönchengladbach is kindly supported by Stadtsparkasse Mönchengladbach. At the international sports festival ‚Move and Groove‘, you have the opportunity to gain new members or showcase what your sport is all about. Invite people to join you and your team by presenting yourselves. Encourage them to try things out.

LUISA IS HERE!

The ‚Luisa is here!‘ campaign offers help and support to women and men who feel harassed or threatened and want to get out of an unpleasant situation. By asking “Is Luisa here?” you can contact the staff to signal that you need help. They will then accompany you to a quiet and safe place. You can decide how to proceed, whether it be contacting a friend, organizing a taxi, or even calling the police. We as a company would like to support the campaign and train our staff accordingly.

As a parent, you can cheer on your child at the roadside. It is not possible to actively run along the route.

You can get a discount on your running ticket for the Move and Groove Run and the Youth Run with the family card of Mönchengladbach or as a starpac member of Stadtsparkasse Mönchengladbach. Participation in the Bambini Run is generally free of charge.

The campaign ‚Luisa is here!‘ offers help and support to women and men who feel harassed or threatened and want to get out of an unpleasant situation. You can find more information here.

If you are travelling by car, the following car parks are available in the immediate vicinity: Parkplatz an der Gracht and Parkhaus Rheydter Marktplatz. You can also use the web app parken-in-mg.de to view all car parks in Mönchengladbach with the current number of free parking spaces, information on tariffs and services.

Would you prefer to come by bike? Then use the Blue Route as a fast and low-traffic cycle route that connects the city centres of Mönchengladbach and Rheydt.
